This blog was created so that school administrators would have the opportunity to form a dialogue addressing the most pertinent issues facing them today. I encourage you to comment, post questions, and assist others in their quest for solutions to the challenges facing a 21st century leader.

As a Middle School we have seen a tremendous increase in students moving in from else where (mostly out of state) with emotional disorders. We are not set up to handle these students - meaning with the mental health personnell in place at our schools. How are the rest of the large middle school handling these students?
I am not as familar with middle school, but all schools face the challenge of various need groups in our building with virtually no support staff to help. At my school we have begun to include more services like DHHR, FRN, legal system, etc. to help with these issues. Often I have found that we have the same goals in mind for the student, but because of a lack of communication a barrier exist in aiding these children. Ultimately the best advice is to communicate with local support systems, because often the student is already apart of their system in most cases.
